District Convention - Day One Update

111 pastors, 47 male teachers, and 73 lay delegates representing congregations throughout the Arizona-California District of the WELS began their 30th biennial convention on June 11 with an opening worship service held at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Apache Junction, AZ. Pastor Don Pieper preached for the communion service, which included a number of instrumentalists, a soloist, and a male choir comprised of participants in the convention.

Hospitality at the Convention

There is something new this year we are offering. Throughout the days of the convention we will be having a Hospitality Suite available for cold cans of sodas, ice tea, and lemonade. There will also be bottled water on ice. During the convention breaks, the resort will have coffee and tea available right outside the convention hall, as has been done in the past. If we were to have them offer soda also, they would charge us $2.50 per can that is taken.

Welcome to the New District Website

I'm happy you're visiting the new AZ-CA District website. We're all gathered together for convention this summer; what better time to unveil the new site? You'll notice things are very simple — even sparse — around here now. That's by design. I'm working with the leaders of the District to evaluate how and what we communicate online. We'll start out small and add tools and features as time goes on. I think we've got some good ideas that'll be helpful to you as a pastor or teacher in the district.
